About Spectaculo Interesse
Spectaculo Interesse takes place every two years. It is a display of the most significant presentations and projects by puppet and alternative theatres, groups and individuals from all over the world; it is one of the most important festivals of its type in Central Europe.
It provides a unique opportunity for creative and friendly meetings with extraordinary personalities in world theatre, for learning about diverse, local and national varieties and means of theatre work, and about new principles of theatrical investigation, both for our theatre and all theatre people from Ostrava and its surroundings, and for the general public—not only from the Ostrava region, but also for all festival guests, domestic and from abroad. It should attract the attention of professional critics. Artists from home and abroad consider participation in this event as a very prestigious affair.
The first idea of organizing a large international puppet festival in Ostrava was born in the head of director Miroslav Vildman, who started his professional career at the DLO, then rehearsed here and in the 1990-1991 season he was his director before his promising activity interrupted death. In October 1990,he managed to organize a small Czech-Polish festival called Puppets, Children and the World.
Vildman's desire to bring the world to Ostrava and Ostrava into the world was realized by director Jarmila Hájková and dramaturgist Hermína Motýlová thanks to the financial contribution of the City of Ostrava and in 1995 the first year of the Spectaculo Interesse festival took place. Since then, DLO organizes it in every odd year, in 2017 for the twelfth.
The Spectaculo Interesse Festival has gradually become the largest international puppet festival in the Czech Republic and one of the most important in Europe.
